Improvise

We are a family without a sled. It's sad but true and after watching other kids walk (read slide) down our street pulling sleds behind them, I wondered what we could use instead of running out and purchasing one. It's been such a mess on the roads I haven't wanted to venture out and possibly risk our lives just to get a sled (love the dramatics, don't you?). So we took out our baking sheets. Sure the other kids thought we were a bit strange but hey those suckers practically flew. I even hopped on one and raced Little Missy a couple of times. And boy do I have an aversion to sleds. I once dislocated my knee sledding and really don't like feeling out of control. But since this wasn't a sled at all I bravely (with my heart beating) went up the hill, sat on the metal tray, hugged my knees (to keep them safe) and away I flew. I guess sometimes it is fun to let it all go and risk it. I came back in one piece and my kiddos had a wonderful time.

The Rameys are in the House!

Yep, I finally made it to a Blazer game. I've lived in Oregon for 18 years now and have yet to see a live game. I remember being a bit miffed that my brother, mother and dad each went to a Blazer game but I was never asked. Now, I was a very stubborn teen who often times thought it was NOT cool to be out with mom or dad so really I shouldn't blame them. My parents may have thought it was not my thing, but I still regret not getting asked if I'd like to go. Oh the childhood baggage I carry (tragic isn't it?)

Anyway I do remember collecting the Blazer drinking glasses, and of course rocking out to the Blazer songs they created in 90's. All the coolest kids in the sixth grade knew the words to Bust a Bucket. Check out this blast from the past.
Can you remember the words? I sure wish I can find all of those other songs they had. Oh, the good ol' days.

So when my daughter brought discounted ticket info from her school, I immediately ordered some affordable seats for our family. I wasn't sure how the kids would like it. At first the kids were in awe of the Rose Garden and all of it's size, lights and noise but it only took a few minutes for them to get comfortable. And I was surprised at how much they loved clapping and cheering with the crowd. All of those cheesy chants (DE-FENSE, clap, clap) were perfect for my kiddos to feel a part of the game. It was fun to share the experience with my own kiddos and hope to do so next year.
